Project information
This project, developed during the 12th-grade Three-Dimensional Workshop course, involved creating a large-format (A1) painting and collage on plywood based on the theme "Red Sea."
The approach adopted a symbolic visual narrative in which red—the color of passion, violence, blood, and life—dominates the composition, creating a dense, emotionally charged atmosphere. In the background, a skeleton holds a heart from which a blue fissure opens—a streak of hope, memory, or redemption amidst death. This central image suggests the persistence of love and life even when all seems lost. The scene is inhabited by other equally symbolic elements: scattered eyes that observe and bear witness, alluding to the concepts of vigilance, consciousness, or judgment; and the figure of Death in a boat, sailing silently, evoking the crossing between worlds and the inevitability of the end.
The work explores the relationship between painting and collage, combining layers of acrylic paint with cutouts and textures that enrich the surface and deepen the visual complexity. The result is an intense piece, marked by symbolism that invites interpretation, balancing the weight of the theme with the poetic freedom of the composition.
