Project information
This project was developed for the History and Criticism of Advertising course and involved creating a poster and a video for a fictional campaign on unplanned pregnancy prevention, titled M.A.P.A. – Manual Aberto de Prevenção e Apoio (Open Manual for Prevention and Support).
The poster employs a metaphorical approach, centering on the idea that warnings are present but often ignored. The blue background represents the character's emotional detachment from reality. The female figure, rendered in dark tones, suggests hitting "rock bottom," while the manual's loose pages symbolize the signs that go unnoticed. Each page features two red strokes—a reference to the two lines on a pregnancy test—which appear crooked in the less urgent chapters and more aligned in the central chapter on prevention. The character's disheveled hair reflects the inner chaos following the discovery. The slogan "When you ignore the signs, life writes the chapter for you" encapsulates the message, with the two strokes replacing the letter "i" in the word sinais (signs). The video complements the narrative by following the young woman throughout the day as she ignores successive warnings until she is confronted with the consequence.
This project allowed me to explore the visual communication of sensitive topics through metaphor and emotion, utilizing a cool color palette and cinematic visual language to reinforce the preventive message.
