Project information

Developed as part of the Environmental Design Project course, this project proposed reconfiguring the visitor route at the Valorsul sorting facility in Lumiar, transforming a purely functional transit path into a narrative, educational, and more engaging spatial experience.

The "Circular Code" concept structures the visit through color—blue in the reception building, yellow in the transition area, and green at the start of the factory tour—creating a continuous visual language that intuitively guides the visitor. Circular forms, incorporated into ceilings, display units, and rest areas, evoke the recycling cycle. Within the factory zone, the narrative intensifies through the use of smart glass that initially conceals the view of the process's final stage, revealing it only on the return leg—once the visitor has grasped the logic of the sorting process.

The intervention also incorporates new display elements, graphic panels, a furniture layout redesign, and a material palette featuring plywood, HDPE, and polycarbonate, thereby enhancing the spaces' visual identity and functionality. The methodology involved photographic surveys, sketching, 3D modeling in SketchUp, and the creation of photorealistic renderings using artificial intelligence.
